Our Farrowing House is a natural for controlling disease because there is no substitute for sunshine and fresh air. Made of dependable plywood, on slatted floors on oak runners. This is the most economical way to farrow. Great for organic, beginning producers, 4H/FFA, overflow and more.

  • Galvanized steel-covered Smidley™ roof. Opens to allow sunlight inside the house to sterilize and dry. Also easy access to clean and care for litter.
  • One-half inch roof insulation protects against summer heat and winter moisture condensation.
  • Pig rails on side and back end.

  • Oak slatted flooring is 1” x 6”.
  • Two coats best orange paint.
  • Extra heavy 5” T hinges bolted on full height door.

  • Cement coated nails in construction hold houses together securely.
  • We have found that a six-foot wide house is sufficient for sows up to 600 pounds. The sow is forced to lay lengthwise against sloping sides which are equipped with pig rails, thus affording maximum protection for the small pigs.
